People suffering from hunger or poverty first need physical help. Showing God's love in action is a powerful way to build bridges to these hurting people. Global Action often partners with other organizations to respond to these humanitarian crises. In Moldova, thousands of hungry people are fed each month; medical equipment is provided in Ukraine, and food and education is given in Bulgaria.
Listed below are our key Compassion ministry programs.
PROVIDE WARMTH WITH BLANKETS AND SWEATERS
It is hard for us to imagine a winter without a sweater or a blanket. Yet, every year in the freezing northern parts of India, thousands of people freeze to death because they lack these simple provisions to keep them warm. Help a child or elderly couple be warm this winter by sending a blanket or sweater.
SHIP CONTAINERS OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES
Quality medical facilities are the norm for those of us living in the Unites States. There are probably at least 100 dialysis machines in your city. But imagine places where there are only two for an entire country! Hospitals and medical centers in Sweden have donated millions of dollars worth of quality medical equipment and supplies. Global Action has received requests from 12 hospitals worldwide for this equipment. Though free, we still need to ship it to the locations which desperately need it!
PROVIDE A WHEELCHAIR FOR THE DISABLED
Medical equipment, especially wheelchairs, is in very short supply in Central America. Many of the disabled try to make wheelchairs from discarded materials, such a broken plastic chairs. Global Action's ministry partner has donated a container full of wheelchairs. All that's needed now is the funding to ship these wheelchairs to El Salvador.
SEND HAND-MADE QUILTED WARMTH
Over 150 quilted baby blankets and lap covers have been made and are ready to ship to Moldova, Europe's poorest country. Many of the hospitals in Moldova have no bedding and no resources for clean bed linens for the orphans abandoned at the hospitals. These hand-made quilts can mean the difference between a bare mattress and a cozy bed.
EDUCATE AND FEED GYPSY CHILDREN
Global Action is joining local churches in Bulgaria to provide meals and literacy programs to the growing population of neglected Gypsy children in Bulgaria. These programs guarantee physical survival for Gypsy children through the winter, and open doors for introducing the hope of Christ.
CREATE A HOME
A self-sufficient Christian community is developing in a small village in India, to raise orphans in a loving family setting with long-term foster parents and siblings. Children will learn life skills, but more importantly, they will be nurtured into God’s potential for their lives. These children, who would otherwise be raised in an orphanage, are given a new world of opportunity.
BUILD A COMMUNITY
In order to make this community in India self-sufficient, mechanic and tailoring shops, a greenhouse, dairy and poultry farm and a medical clinic are being built. We will also provide chickens and buffalo for the farm. Sewing and welding machines will be purchased for the micro-enterprise programs.
