Across the globe, women are an incredible resource for the Kingdom of God. Women of Global Action (WOGA) is a network of national movements encompassing over 150,000 women leaders around the world. These women educate and connect women to impact the world with God’s love as they address the issues of injustice affecting women and girls today. WOGA's ministry includes global prayer initiatives, leadership training, micro-enterprise and other assistance programs to women in need around the world.
In many nations there are no organized programs to develop laymen into Christian leaders. To address this need, Global Action is also adding new training programs for men.
Listed below are our key Women and Men ministry programs.
HOPE FOR AFRICAN WOMEN
Women in East and Central Africa have very few opportunities for employment, with unemployment in some countries at nearly 70%. These women are often forced to live and beg on the streets to support themselves. Young widows have the additional responsibility of feeding their children any way they can. Global Action, working with partner organizations, is providing a 10-month training program for these women, teaching them micro-enterprise skills and helping them get started in small businesses. Hundreds of women now have a better life because of this effective ministry.
FEED AIDS WIDOWS AND ORPHANS PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY
In Africa, many AIDS widows are infected by HIV and struggle to provide food and shelter for their children and other AIDS orphans they are helping to raise. A weekly program by Christian women furnishes a nutritious meal for these families, basic food supplies for the week and spiritual discipleship and counseling.
NOURISH A FAMILY WITH A GOAT
One of the greatest needs of AIDS orphans in rural areas of Africa is nutritious meals. Many of them are malnourished and need to supplement their diets with good nutrients. Goats, given by local Christian women, provide milk and cheese for these young ones. The goats are also bred to provide additional goats for village families who are raising AIDS orphans.
EDUCATE A CHILD WITH THE GIFT OF HONEY
With millions of AIDS orphans in Africa, villages are struggling to provide assistance and keep these youth in school, giving hope for their future. In order to raise the school fees, families who have taken in AIDS orphans are given a beehive by local Christian women leaders. When they sell the honey, the proceeds cover school fees for one year for the orphan.
HOPE FOR UKRAINIAN WOMEN
Alcoholism, substance abuse and joblessness are epidemic in Ukraine. Often wives, mothers and young girls receive the brunt of a husband's, or father's, uncontrolled anger. Global Action provides a safe place for these victims at our Hope Center. here they receive food, legal counseling, spiritual guidance and love from our staff.
CHALLENGE A MAN TO BECOME A GODLY HUSBAND AND FATHER
Positive changes in one man could turn a family around, encourage a church, or lift up an entire community. Through inter-denominational men’s conferences, hundreds of Christian men will be challenged to live godly lives as husbands and fathers. This event will serve as a catalyst for future ministry in India and Eastern Europe.
